  • 12 oz canned chickpeas (drained)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil (or other neutral oil, for frying)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (or plant-based alternative)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain and pat dry the chickpeas. Mash them in a large bowl until coarse.
  2. Add cumin, green onions, garlic, flour, egg, and seasonings to the mashed chickpeas; mix well.
  3. Heat grapeseed oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Shape mixture into patties and fry each for 3–4 minutes on both sides until golden brown.
  5. For the yogurt sauce, combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, dill, garlic, and salt in a bowl.
  6. Serve warm patties with the yogurt sauce.
