  • 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 large onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. Add beef strips and marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until soft and caramelized; set aside.
  3. In the same pan over high heat, add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and sear marinated beef strips for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  4. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch. Pour the mixture over the seared beef and simmer until thickened.
  5. Return sautéed onions to the pan and stir everything together before serving hot over steamed rice or noodles.
