  • 2/3 cup water (plus additional for flooding)
  • Gel food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the powdered sugar and meringue powder in a stand mixer or large bowl.
  2. Gradually add water while mixing on low speed until combined.
  3. Increase speed to medium-high and whip for about 5 minutes until thick and glossy.
  4. Divide into bowls if using multiple colors and mix in gel food coloring.
  5. Transfer icing to piping bags and decorate cookies as desired.
  6. Allow decorated cookies to set at room temperature for at least 12 hours before storing.
