  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and optional cayenne pepper.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in shredded cheddar cheese gently.
  5. In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg until combined.
  6. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir until just combined.
  7. Spoon dough into a prepared loaf pan in chunky layers for pull-apart texture.
