Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs (900 grams) apples (Gala, Fuji, or similar)
  • 10 cups water
  • 2 Tbsp (25 grams) brown sugar
  • 4 inches (55 grams) ginger (sliced)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tsp black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by washing, quartering, and coring them—no need to peel.
  2. For Instant Pot users: Combine apples, sliced ginger, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and water. Lock the lid and cook on high pressure for 18 minutes.
  3. For stovetop preparation: In a stock pot, bring all ingredients to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until apples are soft.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher or jar to separate the solid bits.
  5. Allow the tea to cool completely before serving hot or chilling in the fridge.
