  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes until the meat is cooked through. Drain any excess liquid.
  2. Stir in the chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, and cayenne pepper. Reduce heat to low and let simmer.
  3. Cover and simmer for one hour while stirring occasionally to blend the flavors.
  4. Add the rinsed pinto beans and salt to the chili and cook for an additional 15 minutes before serving.
